Santiago Soto

Colombian artist February 4, 1967. Bogotá, Colombia.
"Painting is part of my life since I was a child and it is the language with which I see the world and understand life."
His childhood passed between brushes, pencils, crayons, clay, etc .; from the hand of his mother Cecilia and his grandfather Antonio Gómez Borrás, in the mountainous fields of the Sabana de Bogotá.
The lessons of drawing, color management, human and animal anatomy, and above all observation and relationship with nature, as well as learning how to handle materials and utensils filled all his time and dreams.
Subsequently, the presence of the teacher Edgar Correal in his artistic training is definitive to establish himself in the discipline and languages of art. Learn from him especially the observation of light and its application in drawing and painting. A good part of the training with his tutor consisted in thoroughly exploring the Spanish museums where he assimilated the values and techniques of the great masters of European painting throughout history.
From 1982 he began his studies as a designer of furniture and Industrial works with wood until 1987.
At the same time, he complemented his studies as an industrial designer in 1986 until 1988 at the Polytechnic Institute of Madrid.
He has worked as a set designer and art director for numerous theater plays, movies and TV, in the cities of Madrid, New York and Bogotá.
In his constant search for languages, art begins his acting training with the teachers Alfonso Ortíz and Andrés Agudelo from 1996 to 2000.
He has done numerous illustration works in children's stories, magazines and publications in New York, Madrid and Bogotá.
Currently, acrylic painting and pencil drawing are the means he uses to develop his work.
